5 BEST PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLERS I READ THIS YEAR! 2025

 Hey I'm a psychological thriller enthusiast and here are some of the psycho-thriller books with reviews. NO SPOILERS!!

1. The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides.

This is one of the best psychological thrillers I read all year. It is fast paced and your most likely to finish the book in one sitting. I took less than 6 hours to finish this one. The non-linearity in the book is remarkable. Truly a brain-twisting psychological thriller. This book will have your questioning your existence. Too good, 9.6/10.

2. The Boyfriend by Freida Mcfadden.

I didn't understand the hype of this book until I read it. The delivery was smooth and so unexpected. I thought I had it with this Frieda Mcfadden book. I felt like I knew who the villian would be, but again I had it all wrong. (Freida Mcfadden did it again, Shes just a genuis.) The parallels were so smoothly pieced together to put a whole different narrative in our minds that thinking otherwise was not an option.

3. The Housemaid's Secret by Freida Mcfadden.

Personally out of the trilogy I liked this one the most. I kinda saw it coming by the way Frieda writes I may have suspected foul play by the author but overall the book was great. The writing style and delivery was typical Frieda. I'd rate it a 8/10.

4. Verity by Collen Hoover.

This was one of my first books I read by Collen Hoover. It was a little slow paced initially but the built-up was worth it. Honestly I don't know whose story I should believe but yes the ending is kinda ambigious. Its upto the reader to decide whose story they'd believe. It involves proven abuse that no ones sure how it happened. I think I'll give it 7/10.

5. The Housemaid by Freida Mcfadden. 

Now I don't know if this is supposed to be placed on position 5 but maybe I'd equal the pace to Verity by Collen Hoover. It is kinda slow paced although the plot is gut-wrenching but it was a little obvious. I'd give it a 7/10 too.

Why 'Never Lie' by Freida Mcfadden had me hooked.

 So, this year around July 2025, after I graduated college I started reading again. From July - Dec I've read a total of 17 books. Never Lie being one of the first psychological thrillers I've read that year.  Review: Never Lie by Frieda Mcfadden. (No Spoilers) The start was easy going, and mid paced as in not to slow/ not to fast. By the time you're few chapters in you get the hang of the characters and the environment. It's one of the best psychological thrillers I've read all year, and I think it's one of the best Freida Mcfadden books to exist. It has a little eerie vibe to it and you'll not be able to guess what happened in the plot till the very last minute. You would think that you've understood it all only to be outdone by the author in the last few chapters. It has a seat-gripping tone and it got me dropping the book aside to process what I just read. Not Quite Dead Yet by Holly Jackson (Thriller of the year)

Being a fan of Holly Jackson since 'The Good Girls Guide to Murder' trilogy, I already had my hopes up for this one. It surely didn't disappoint me with the expectations I had from this book. Her writing style remains consistent to grip the readers attention to specific details that make sense later. It is a quick paced book, the type that you finish in one sitting. It involves genres like suspense, thriller and lots of emotion. Like all of her other books the MMC and FMC do not get their happy ending but that's also what makes it unique and stick to the plot the book is built upon.  I think what I liked most in the book, is the built up that keeps you on the edge of your seat, namely the suspense that it has.
